Aggressive Lures is a freshwater fishing resource built on real trips, real conditions, and honest reporting. Our home water is Hillsdale Lake in Kansas, where we launch from Jayhawk Marina, but the knowledge we share (tips, techniques, gear insights, and lake intelligence) is for anglers everywhere.
We publish what most fishing sites won’t: the failures alongside the successes. Every report we write answers four questions. What worked? What didn’t? Why? And what did we learn? Because a fishing report that only shows the wins isn’t a report, it’s a highlight reel.
Where We Came From
Aggressive Lures didn’t start from zero. Founder William Rock has spent more than 25 years in the fishing community, including founding Fishing Tackle Forum in 2004 with co-owner Brian Wright, a freshwater community that grew into a hub for gear reviews, product testing, and connecting small manufacturers with real anglers.
That era also built a foundation of youth and inclusive fishing advocacy. William helped build the Kickback Junior Bass Club alongside founders Brad and Rodney, served as assistant Youth Director for the B.A.S.S. Federation of Kansas, and is a certified Kansas Wildlife and Parks youth fishing instructor, supporting programs that introduce kids and new anglers to the sport.
Aggressive Lures carries all of that forward under one roof.
What We Stand For
Tell the truth. Honest reports, honest reviews, honest conditions. If a pattern died at 10 a.m., we say so.
Education first. Teaching matters more than selling. Products support the mission, never the other way around.
Trust flows from real relationships. When we recommend a guide, it’s because we fished with them or someone we trust vouches for them. No paid listings, no pay-to-play.
Conservation matters. Healthy fisheries are the whole point. We practice and promote responsible fishing.
Family comes first. The best fishing memories are shared ones, and everything we publish is family-friendly.
