An earlier chapter
It started with fishing and people.
Fishing Tackle Forum was an earlier freshwater-fishing community connected to William Rock and Brian Wright. It brought together tackle discussions, practical tips, experiences from the water and an interest in helping anglers learn from one another.
Its roots go back to the early 2000s. Recovered recollections place the origin around 2001 or 2002, but the precise founding date is still being reconciled against old material. The important part isn't picking a year to make a tidy timeline. It's remembering why the fishing community existed.
Forums made room for anglers to ask questions, share a new jig design, compare what was happening on different water, and talk about days when the fish did not cooperate. Those conversations were a kind of shared tackle box.
Catch more fish. Create more memories.
A fishing story that includes more than fishing.
Some of the most valuable parts of that history happened away from a computer screen. There were youth-fishing efforts, conservation interests, teaching opportunities and community activities involving people who cared about the next generation of anglers.
The historical record includes William helping build and support Kickback Junior Bass Club. Brad Burns and Rodney founded Kickback; William contributed to its development and broader youth-fishing community work. His history also includes Kansas fishing education and work connected to the Kansas B.A.S.S. Federation.
We want to preserve that history accurately. There are old photographs, forum pages, event memories and tackle projects still worth finding, but an incomplete archive is not a reason to invent the missing pieces.
What carried forward.
People helped people fish
Discussion, techniques, small tackle makers, questions and real experiences shaped what Fishing Tackle Forum meant to its members.

A blank trip can teach something, too. That philosophy carries forward into the way Aggressive Lures talks about reports, tackle and technique.
Explore →TeachingPass it on
Youth-fishing education, community volunteering and helping other anglers were part of that era, not just a side story.
Explore →What happened to the old forum?
Fishing Tackle Forum eventually went offline. The surviving recollections include a hacking incident, but we have not reconstructed its date, technical details or complete sequence. We won't retell that as a confirmed incident report until the underlying records support it.
That experience leaves a useful lesson for this new chapter: websites change, but photographs, original contributions, field notes and community history deserve care. Aggressive Lures is not presented as a renamed or uninterrupted Fishing Tackle Forum. It's a new fishing project informed by the earlier one.
The next chapter happens on the water.
Today we're connecting fishing reports, guides, lake knowledge, tackle research and hands-on education in one place. Our starting water is Hillsdale Lake in Kansas, but the idea is bigger than any one lake: learn something, share something useful and enjoy fishing with people who matter.
And when the fish win? Tell that story too.
