This is where the fishing stories start. Work boats, covered slips, families heading onto Hillsdale, and anglers gathering around the heated dock when the weather turns cold.

Why we keep coming back

More than a place to launch.

For Aggressive Lures founder William Rock, Jayhawk has become part fishing home base, part outdoor office. Sometimes the computer comes along for the ride. Sometimes it's a rod and a cup of coffee. Either way, the dock has a way of turning ordinary conversations into useful fishing lessons.

That's the heart of this section: a real marina with real character. We're interested in the people, the practical facilities, and the everyday knowledge you pick up by spending time on Hillsdale Lake.

The signature feature

When winter arrives,
the fishing doesn't have to stop.

Jayhawk's indoor heated fishing dock is a familiar gathering place for anglers through the colder months. The marina promotes fishing for crappie, bass, walleye and catfish, and encourages catch and release.

The dock is described as open year-round, subject to weather and seasonal operating schedules. That makes it worth checking the latest rules and hours before you leave home.

The dock is the campfire

Real stories from real water.

We're collecting field notes, lessons from slow and productive days, tackle experiments, and memories from the Hillsdale fishing community. This is the place those stories connect to people and practical lake knowledge.
